Hello, and welcome back to the real estate investing Made Simple podcast. I’m your host, Bailey Kramer. And this is the mindset Monday edition, where instead of talking about real estate, I talked about a mindset principle that anyone can immediately apply to their life. Today’s topic is self-affirmations. For those of you who don’t know what a self-affirmation is, I’ll first read the standard definition and then talk about the concept in depth. Self-affirmation is a recognition and assertion of the existence value of one’s individual self. Let me read that again. The recognition and assertion of the existence and value of one individual self. As you may have heard before, 80% of success is mental and only 20% of success is physical. So it all starts with the words and thoughts you tell yourself. Self-affirmations is simply talking with yourself either positively or negatively. A lot of people have negative self-affirmations, which is extremely harmful and sad and pushes them farther away from their goal because they’re convincing themselves that they can do something. On the other hand, positive self-affirmation is a statement that you can say to yourself, that is uplifting or positive. It’s feeding your mind positive thoughts and convincing yourself that you can and that you will. Every morning when I wake up, I go through a self-affirmation routine, where I speak positive thoughts to myself and tell our brain that I’m ready to have a great day and that I can do anything I put my mind to. Examples of self-affirmations are statements like I’m in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness. Another one is to have the power to create change. And the last one is, I refuse to give up because I haven’t tried all possible ways. While it may sound silly, it works. So I challenge you to the following. Write down three self-affirmation statements and read them every single morning when you wake up for the next week. These affirmation statements can be anything you choose.
